Project Management

S2Tech applies sound disciplines in executing each project according to our Project Management Plan (PMP). We use industry-standard tools and approaches to planning and managing work on every project, large or small. Working with our client, the S2Tech project team develops a deliverable-based work breakdown structure (WBS) and a project schedule. We believe it is critically important to keep the project schedule focused on deliverables and results. Doing so allows the joint project leadership to clearly measure the progress of the project in completing measureable work products, rather than just managing task completion.

Highlights of S2Tech’s structured project delivery methodology include:

Centralized project coordination -- S2Tech coordinates all non-supplemental staffing (firm fixed priced) projects centrally under one S2Tech executive – the Vice President of Products and Services (“Project Executive”). The result is a high degree of consistency in the application of organizational disciplines across all projects. All projects benefit by this structure because lessons learned and best practices are easily shared across projects and each project can draw upon the insights of other project and organizational resources to help in times of need.

Detailed and comprehensive response to client requests – S2Tech provides clients with comprehensive responses to requests for additional services. Our standardized and highly structured service proposals contain all elements of an industry-standard Project Management Plan (PMP). By doing so, we present our clients with a clear picture of S2Tech’s project management approach for each individual project.

Adaptive, iterative-based SDM – We developed our System Development Methodology based on senior management experience that spans literally decades of software development and implementation. S2Tech’s adaptive SDM provides the project team a tool to partition the project scope into well-defined components and refine requirements iteratively rather than attempt to define all requirements for the entire system before writing the first line of code. The result is a very quick cycle from requirements to working software.

Structured and scalable PMM – Our PMM is founded on the recognized principles of the Project Management Institute’s PMBOK Guide and the plans contained and/or referenced herein are consistent with the State’s project management best practices. We realize that one size does not fit all – a necessary level of governance on a large project will crush a small project. We work with our customers to tailor our PMM to the unique needs of each project setting.

Ability to create efficient virtual teams - Managing a development project in a virtual team environment presents a significant communication challenge, requiring a higher level of rigor on the part of all project team members to communicate effectively. S2Tech uses the Jira Studio ® to facilitate team communication and bridge the gap between virtual team members. Jira Studio provides distributed teams a common, web-based toolset where project team members can collaborate on documents, store common working files, and create discussion threads. Jira also provides a central repository for issue, risk, configuration and task management.

On-site / off-site flexibility – S2Tech’s ability to create virtual teams allows us to successfully satisfy client preferences concerning project team location(s). The company’s staff may be integrated onsite within the customer’s IT infrastructure or may work independently from any of S2Tech’s remote office locations within the United States. Because of our proven ability to virtualize project teams across multiple locations, we can offer clients a choice of several staffing models: on-site at the client’s offices; off-site at our St. Louis-area development center and/or remote offices; off-shore at our Hyderabad, India development center; or a blend of all locations.
